YAOWARAT
CHINATOWN - BANGKOK

Covering a large area around the main Yaowarat Road and adjoining Charoen Krung Road is Bangkok’s Chinatown. Locally known as the Yaowarat district, is one of the city’s major tourist attractions. It is a showcase of Chinese culture and enterprising spirit.
Chinatown retains some aspects of the Chinese way of life. Many of the buildings house beautiful decorative motifs, giving a view of Chinese religion and the unique history and lifestyle. Chinatown is best known for it’s more than 100 gold shops. Some of the world’s finest gold products can be found and purchased here.

The real Chinatown lies down the busy numerous smaller side streets. Many of these are full of shops selling all types of quality goods, hence a paradise for shoppers. Stalls are everywhere as you will find all sorts of products at very attractive prices. Yes you can negotiate just as you can with the vendors on Silom Road. Speaking of vendors on Silom Road, you will recognize almost all of the items here in Chinatown but at a much lower price.
Chinatown teems with tiny shops and curb side vendors selling clothing, spices, foods, snacks, fruits, household products, souvenirs, electronics and a lot more. Chinatown shopping is broken down to smaller specific areas such as electrical & electronics in Klong Thom. Audio in Bahn Mo. You may need help in locating these areas so come to Telephone Pub and ask our in-house expert, Khun Tai.

At night, it is always a delight to visit the Yaowarat district. When getting dark, this lively Chinese community becomes the largest Chinese restaurant in Bangkok, serving a variety of food until well past midnight.
Chinatown in Bangkok is a must see especially if you are a shopper. Bargains galore everywhere, “the” place for real local shopping.
